French Chic – Ce’st La Mode – How to look “Le Francais”

What exactly is Parissiene chic. It is a seemingly effortless dressing. Its a joie de vivre, its a “I just threw this on!” Enough with the catchphrases already 🙂 Just tell us how to get it. Susan Sommers has written a book on the topic but I don’t quite think Susan Sommers qualifies as an expert on that.

Its an elegantly cut pants suit, high heels or ballet flats. Contrary to what you might think, French women do not spend a ton of money on clothing. They just spend a ton of money on the best item they can get at the best prices, hence Le Depot Vente. The message is tres conservative -You are smart if your lable is smart.

Flashiness is out, quality is key. All logos etc are out except of course , if it is a Chanel logo. Here are 7 ways to look “Le Francais” – think Carla Bruni Sarkozy – wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Rule # 1 – Try not to go for the Must-have piece of the season. If you must, make it your own.

Or just pair this Dolce leopard pumps with a simple black well cut suit to add a little wow to your outfit. Leopard pumps have all too often taken on a Vegas feel to them butdon’t run awway from them. They could actualy be considered a neutral as they go with practically anything.

Try the same Dolce Leopard shoes but in ubiquitous ballet flats for a more casual yet still wildly elegant approach. For the work appraoch? Non?

A well cut and spectacularly fitting jacket is a must!

Evoke effortless sophistication with a sweater dress and a scarf.

Why you absolutely need a New Coat this Fall..

Dolce & Gabbana Runway Coat

Whats fall without a great coat, a sweater dress and killer boots? Fall , our absolutely favorite season of the year is here in all its glory, so put away those summer clothes and rock the wonderful new looks available for fall.

Need some inspiration? Pick a great coat, an investment piece that balances practicality and style and will last you a lifetime, like this fully lined 98% wool Plaid D & G Tartan Coat, Its fitted, flatters most figures and is very modern.

Been looking for a cocktail coat for ever?. Didn’t we tell you this fall is really full of options?

This Nanette Lepore Cocktail Coat  will keep you covered, stylish and warm. Who said you had to sacrifice Style for comfort?

Keeping with this plaid theme is this more affordable Plaid Wool Coat . If you like a little more pizzazz, try this Plaid pea coat
at $120.00

The  coats for fall are amazing standouts and seriously, once you pick the right coat, doesn’t everything else just fall into place. Remember, first impressions count- you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Wouldn’t it just be so sinful to pair plaid with leopard boots or pumps?. There has been so much leopard on the runways that this would be a completely unexpected way to pop it into your palette.

A totally different look is this ladylike Red Dior coat obviously inspired by Carla Buni Sarkozy and very Mad Men. The neckline eliminates the need for any kind of embelishment.

Another similar ladylike style is this Paul & Joe Sister Bateau Coat. Not suitable for a larger bust, Miight we add. The Dior coat above is extremely flattering to the better endowed ladies.

I for one will be putting one of those wide belts on my coats for a snazzy modern feel.  Like this D&G belted coat.
